Final Product Development
Carrying on from the sketch ideation, the group agreed to take on this concept to develop as we thought it had potential and that we could incorporate a few ideas later in the process.

The idea is a modular coaster that has reactive light feedback to guide users through drink preparation stages. The concept targets difficult drink orders which sometimes may have different adjustments and alterations which for some workers at BSK might not be achievable if it isn’t part of their routine.

Through research and word of mouth from the various visits of coffee shop we realised that there is not really a standard coffee cup size - there’s one for each drink type! We need to think about the proportions of the product that we are designing.
When there’s one great thing, there’s usually another. From the responsive base we also wanted to find a place to put a screen for visual instructions and steps.
We settled on a portrait screen, the feedback was mixed some liking a landscape and some a portrait. Ultimately we decided a portrait screen was easier to follow steps on and also in the case there are multiple units next to each other it would sit more snugly.
A few considerations before we start!
